Art Therapy - Gold Coast
Art therapy is considered to be a great therapy method because it allows the expression of non-verbal thoughts; additionally it balances right (non-verbal) and left (verbal) brain functions. Art Therapy is great for relieving stress. In fact, abstract art involves focus, creativity and joy, without the pressure to make anything perfect or lifelike. Some people like to draw to reveal their problems, especially if they find it hard to articulate or get their inner-child to communicate. Others like to get busy with pastels to express themselves. The view of the creek from the counselling room balcony inspires most people.
Art Therapy is highly recommended for:
Traditional Art Therapy
In traditional Art Therapy, the therapist interprets the client's artwork as a symbolic, yet tangible expression of a problem. In Ghita's methods, she uses guided visualisation and drawing exercises to work through irrational or limiting beliefs. This method, was known as psychosynthesis and was originally designed by psychoanalyst - Roberto Assagioli in Italy, last century.
Unlike Freud, Assagiolo believed in a spiritual, inclusive concept of humanity. Furthermore, his exercises, which incorporated drawing elements, were very successful in unleashing glass ceilings and limiting beliefs about abilities.
