Welcome to Ghita Therapy Counselling Services
Counselling is a form of 'talk therapy' where you talk in confidence with a counsellor about the issues you are facing in your life: Moreover, your thoughts, feelings and behaviours. Counselling is a process where an individual, couple or family meet with a trained professional to discuss challenges and problems. Furthermore, counselling is confidential and non-judgemental. You could say that counsellors are exceptional sounding boards because they reflect back to you your words and open up new perspectives for viewing your world.
Releasing Stress With a Trusted Professional
Counselling provides the chance to talk things through, very often relieving emotional pressure, clearing the way for people to focus and decide what to do next. Counselling can provide a sense of direction and a greater ability to achieve goals. Just like you seek advice from a doctor for health issues, a counsellor can help to give you tools for better decision making and improved mental health.
For many years, the word 'therapy' has become synonymous with an image of a therapist in an armchair, peering over their glasses as they take notes and nodding periodically in response to a client lying on a couch. Notably, asking how it makes them feel, etcetera. In reality, there are 400 different types of therapy, and modern counselling today is much more humanistic that that stereotypical image created by Sigmund Freud.
What differs a counsellor from a friend or family member in advice is that talk therapists are trained specifically to help us navigate our problems, and identify patterns, so that we are better equipped to find solutions. Subsequently, everyday men, women and teenagers turn to counselling when they need support, or are at a crossroads in their lives. People who come to counselling are often ready to change and grow, and just need a little guidance and someone to talk to. In fact, one in three Gold Coast adults have reached out to a mental health professional in the last few years.
Importantly, since covid the rates of depression and anxiety have been steadily rising. In the case of depression, many think that it is only associated with people who are ‘unable to get out of bed’. But for many the symptoms of depression can be much more subtle. Have you been feeling down? Flat? Blue or struggling with low energy and motivation? Most of us have the occasional times where we might feel a bit down. However, many people will experience feeling depressed at some point in their life and surprisingly it can often manifest as anger.
Filling up Your Cup
In this modern age, it is easy to neglect self care like you are pouring from an empty cup. If you are constantly juggling work, kids, family, finances, and more, you’ll quickly end up burnt out – with less in your emotional cup. An empty cup means your ability to care for others will be non-existent when you don’t even have the time or energy to care for yourself. Sound familiar?
Usually, our default mindset is: “Well, I’m coping right now, I can just get through the day and deal with it later.” But so often we put it off again, and again, and again, until one day we reach for our cup and find that it is completely empty. We ask ourselves, “How did it get this bad?”, and we wonder why we didn’t do anything about it sooner.
So, now is your chance to fill you cup up, to prioritise yourself and “make” the time to sort through some things you have been putting off. To take control of your happiness and to be heard by someone who won't judge you, but instead will encourage you to create your best life.

Individual Counselling Information:
Based on your unique needs, your counsellor will provide a practical and supportive approach to explore what is causing you to feel unhappy. Some clients only need to express themselves as a sounding board to clarify their situation, whilst others need to work through deeper issues. Furthermore, as you work together, you will learn new coping strategies, gain awareness of your strengths, and discover what you need to create a happier, more balanced and fulfilling life.
How Many Appointments Will I Need?
The first appointment is primarily focussed on understanding what is happening for you and determining how we may be of assistance. On average you can expect to see positive outcomes within 3-6 sessions, with appointments generally 1-2 weeks apart on average at first, then tapering in frequency depending on needs. More complex issues may require a longer time frame. We advise booking 1-2 follow-up appointments in advance to ensure optimal treatment is accessible should you choose to utilise it.
How Do I Prepare For My First Counselling Session?
It can be helpful to make some notes about the things that are troubling you and bring them to your appointment. If you have a GP referral letter for an individual concession rate – bring that to your session. You may also like to save time and fill out the online intake form.
In your first intake session, your counsellor will be looking forward to meeting you and getting to know who you are and what you want out of your time in therapy. Your counsellor will look at your intake form for things like family background, mental health history and general situation. From there, they will work with you to create clear goals around what you’ll work on together in your sessions.

Preparation for Couples Counselling
Reflect: Before starting couples counselling, take time to reflect on your relationship. In the first session, your counsellor will seek to get to know you as a couple and understand both the strengths and weaknesses of your relationship. Sometimes people find it helpful to create a relationship timeline so that they can track significant events or experiences over the years.
Areas of concern: When you’re coming into couples counselling, it’s common to dwell on the hurt that you have experienced or the areas where you want your partner to make change. The expression of your wants and needs is a very important part of the couples counselling process. However, don’t forget to take time to own your part in the conflict: 'What are some areas that I could work on to improve our relationship?'
What have you tried? Coming into couple’s counselling, it’s important to share with your therapist what strategies you have tried in the past. Tell Ghita what has worked and what hasn’t worked for you in your areas of concern. This way, you don’t repeat old mistakes and your counsellor has a better idea of your relationship dynamic.

3 Step Gottman Marriage Counselling Package
Need Immediate Marriage or Relationship Counselling on the Gold Coast or Online? Check our diary schedule below...
★★★★★ Google Review: Marriage Counselling: 3 Step (Gottman) Package 2023:
Ghita provided real strategies that can be implemented to prevent conflict and more empathy within our relationship. We were able to be truthful and honest within ourselves and then she gave us the tools to be able to communicate our needs effectively. Ghita was absolutely warm and welcoming, would definitely recommend her intensive three step package, it has saved our marriage. - Nicole Eggleton (Coomera).
★★★★★ Testimonial: 5 Week Marriage Counselling Package 2023: 'Truthfully, I was ready to give up. Things were so bad. Since the five week program, we have nothing to fight about. The other day my husband used the code word 'Pineapple' to share something about his childhood: I stopped and listened without judgement - and I was fully present. Normally, I would half listen, avoid feelings and get defensive when he got frustrated. That would result in a whole day of ill feelings and sulking on both sides. The conflict would start with such small things. This has really changed how we see each other's triggers and motivations. We have never been so close. We don't take things so personally. We are stronger and we make time for each other.' - Suzie (Gold Coast)
★★★★★ Testimonial: Marriage Counselling 2022: We had been to Couples Counselling before with another counsellor. Ghita nailed our problem and made us negotiate. After many years of arguing over the same thing, she showed us how to do deals. I was of the mindset to leave, but one hour turned it around for us. Thank you Ghita. - J & A Tovey. (Couples Therapy: Hope Island)
NLP, Time Line Therapy and Hypnotherapy
Re-Programming the Mind to Do What You Want
You’ve heard the term living on autopilot, right? To someone trained in NLP or Hypnosis, this would mean that you are living according to your programming, which consists of habitual thoughts, which create triggers, emotional reactions and sometimes unwanted beliefs. With methods such as NLP, Time Line and Hypnotherapy you can reprogram your mind to do what you want not what you don't want. These methods have been miraculous for many people.
What is NLP?
Our NLP Practitioner Ghita Andersen (Tad James Company trained practitioner) will work to reveal a person’s 'map' of unproductive patterns that make them feel stuck, and then write a new map that replaces those with empowering habits and effective strategies. NLP works where many other counselling modalities fail - especially for traumas and PTSD.
'Stanford University found that treating Depression with NLP had better results than traditional psychotherapy.'

★★★★★ Testimonial via Text 2022: NLP for Limiting Self-Doubt: Hi Ghita, yesterday was one of the most powerful experiences I have ever had in my self development. Thank you so much. - Adam Houlahan (Palm Beach)
What is Time Line Therapy®?
How Does TLT Work?
Time Line Therapy® is based on the concept that our unconscious mind stores memories in a linear pattern (like a timeline). Simply put, this timeline is a mental photo album of our current life, and of previous lives. Intrigued?
A Time Line Therapy® session may involve going through emotions methodically (anger, sadness, fear, and guilt) to help clear the emotional background noise. Time Line Therapy® provides powerful processes and techniques for personal change and growth by helping the client remove any of the painful emotions attached to a particular memory or event - over life times. Furthermore, it works to release emotions that still cause stress in the adult mind and body.

Past-Life Regression Hypnosis
A popular trend in hypnotherapy is Past-Life Regression which is a method designed to recover memories of someone’s past lives. This method of hypnotherapy makes it is possible to access forgotten memories of other times and places. Past-Life Regression hypnosis examines memories and incidents - often identifying relationships from a past life lives which still impact upon you today. In addition, past life regression may help you to identify patterns of behaviour that repeat in your current life.
